The Wilson's 2nd DIY Xtracycle

Getting Towed Home on a Bike via Bike

My pedal snapped off when riding home from the fireworks on the 4th of July, so my brother in law Shane towed us the rest of the way home. He is a machine!

How to Make Your Own DIY Xtracycle Part 9

An xtracycle is a really cool design for biking that extends the frame length of your bike, so that your cargo capacity greatly increases, while the mobility and agility of the bike remains pretty consistent. www.xtracycle.com I have been wanting one of these for quite some time, but the high price tag is pretty steep when I already have 5-6 bikes in the garage. After searching around some internet forums, I discovered a growing population of DIYers who are creating their own versions of this bike design. Here is my attempt at documenting my steps in creating my own.

Beaver in Garrison Park?

Strange morning for me today. Had a rough time with getting the kids on the bus, causing me to get out of my normal daily shower and shave routine. Had a coffee appointment at 8:00 to get to, so I skipped the shower and headed out the door. Soon after leaving the house, the chain on my bike started acting up, and a few minutes later just as I was passing by the Garrison Park playground it snapped in two. Grumpily I dismounted, only to find myself in a front row seat to a bizarre scene.

A beaver was loose in Garrison park.

What? A beaver?

3 grown men were running around in circles with a cardboard box and a blanket. Standing doubled over on the sidewalk was a woman howling in laughter at the fiasco playing out in front of her.

One of the men threw the blanket over the scared little fella. To his surprise, the beaver panicked and literally climbed/ran up the man's leg across his chest and leaped off of his shoulder launching 6 ft in the air seizing momentary freedom. The female observer squealed and clapped her hands with delight. I was now late to my coffee, and now would have to walk there pushing my broken bike.

So I had to go. But with so many questions left unanswered. Why was the beaver in the park? Why are the men chasing the beaver? Is the woman with them? Is she laughing with them, or at them. What will the box do if they happen to get a beaver in it?

Sometimes unanswered questions are the most fun!

The Ultimate Snow Bike

I saw this bike parked out by the music tent at last weekend's Flurrious! Festival in Delaware park here in Buffalo. This is a really cool concept, but I was never able to track down the owner to see if it really works or not.
